(ECNS) – China Coast Guard expelled a Japanese fishing vessel that illegally entered territorial waters around China's Diaoyu Islands from August 1 to 4, a spokesperson for the coast guard said on Monday.
The vessel in question was operating in waters off the Diaoyu Islands without authorization, and the China Coast Guard took necessary measures following the law and issued warnings to drive the vessel away, the spokesperson Gan Yu stated.
"The Diaoyu Islands and their affiliated islets are China's inherent territory," Gan emphasized. "We urge the Japanese side to cease all illegal activities in the relevant waters immediately."
Gan further noted that the China Coast Guard will continue to conduct rights protection and law enforcement operations in the waters off the Diaoyu Islands to safeguard China's territorial sovereignty and maritime rights and interests.
